Slavoj Žižek

(nar. 1949)

slovinský sociolog, filozof a kulturolog. Profesor filosofie a psychoanalýzy. Po studiu filozofie v Ljubljaně studoval psycholonalýzu v Paříži . Mezinárodně je uznávaný především pro to, jak ve své práci využívá dílo francouzského psychoanalytika Jacquese Lacana, a pro svou novou interpretaci populární kultury. V jednom nedávném rozhovoru se charakterizoval jako "marxista" a "komunista". Kandidoval v prvních slovinských postkomunistických volbách (1990) na úřad prezidenta.

Působí na The European Graduate School v Saas-Fee ve Švýcarsku, v Sociologickém institutu Lublaňské univerzity, ve Velké Británii a USA. Je jedním z mezinárodních ředitelů Centre for Humanities na Birkbeck College v Londýně. V českém překladu vyšly knihy Nepolapitelný subjekt (2007) a Mluvil tu někdo o totalitarismu? (2007), v Listech 2005/6 např. článek Pokusy uniknout logice kapitalismu
