Ringwood East railway station is a commuter railway station on the Lilydale line, serving the eastern Melbourne suburb of Ringwood East inVictoria, Australia. Ringwood East is a ground level unstaffed station, featuring one island platform with two faces. The station opened on 18 May 1925, with the current single-storey station structure provided in 1975.[4][5][6]

History[edit]

On 30 June 1984, the current island platform was provided, as part of the duplication of the line between Ringwood and Croydon.[7][4] In that same year, boom barriers were provided at the Dublin Road level crossing, located nearby in the up direction of the station.[7][8]

On 29 July 2021, the Level Crossing Removal Project announced that the level crossing will be grade separated by 2025, with a rail trench to be built underneath the road.[9][10][11] The level crossing removal will also involve the construction of a new station.[9][10] In May 2023, construction on the project began.[12]

On 24 May 2024, Dublin Road level crossing and equipment was removed, with new Ringwood East station opening in early July 2024.[13][14][15]

Platforms and services[edit]

Ringwood East has one island platform with two faces. The station is within Myki ticketing Zone 2,[16] and is located between Railway Avenue and Patterson Street in the centre of Ringwood East. The station also has 330 car parking spaces.[4]

It is serviced by Metro Trains' Lilydale line services.[17]
