History[edit]
The station opened on 25 June 1924.[1] With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR Hokkaido.[1]
Future plans[edit]
In June 2023, this station was selected to be among 42 stations on the JR Hokkaido network to be slated for abolition owing to low ridership.[2] Officials are targeting the closure to take place sometime in March 2025.[3]
